I do agree the world is far from perfect. I am on the camp of this is the best time ever been, Steven Pinker camp. Throughout human history is full of violence. Human life expectancy grows from 47 in 1930 to 76 now. No famine and deadly black plaque. It is not perfect. By it is the by product of capitalism, life is hard, therefore, work harder to survive, as the result of the labor, human flourishing. In ancient Roman time, speaking against the kings or the emperors usually means death. Marriage wasn't about love but survival and lineage. Thanks for reminding me that I am privileged and blessed. Things are cheap and affordable because of capitalism, it requires rules of law and stable society to work.
